Wednesday Afternoons is an emotional story about the relationship between two old friends. Henry Walker, a retired railway clerk and a lonely widower, prepares the setting in his flat for a game of chess between him and his old time friend Thomas. Henry’s loneliness is only overcome by the company of Thomas, but today and like a Greek tragedy he will discover that Gods have decided otherwise.
